10. ~ Blue Jay ~

The blue jay is the mascot for the professional baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays. Male and female blue jays look very similar. They are well known for their aggressive manner. Jays are large and they are noisy. They also have big appetites. Blue jays shed their feathers during the warm summer season. The adults do a complete wardrobe change during the summer months. Blue jays appear to wear a black collar. They are frequent callers and often imitate the sound of the red-tailed hawk. Blue jays don't start out blue in colour. First they are black. They like large seeds and will chase away the smaller birds, unless they have their own separate food source. Blue jays will add light or white coloured materials to their nest. They love to squawk up a storm. Blue jays are busy bodies and like to help themselves to what benefits them most. They mate between March and July. A blue jay will stay with their mate until "death do they part!"

Medicine:

Blue jay medicine teaches that sometimes we must make a lot of noise to get noticed or heard by others. Blue jays remind us to make our point, but also not become annoying. A blue jay teaches not to be someone that we aren't, but rather just be ourselves If someone or something is bothering you, don't be afraid to deal with the issue openly. Don't allow someone to steal your joy from you. Be on the look out for bigger increases in some part of your life. Blue jay medicine suggests it is time to join a group or club of like-minded people. Blue jays encourage us to get together with others to find solutions to a common problem. A blue jay also teaches us to be clear in what we are trying to communicate to others. Blue jay medicine reminds us it's time to step up to the plate and make our best pitch!
