6. ~ Bat ~

Vampire bats prey mainly on domestic animals, biting them on the neck, shoulder, rump or ankle. And yes, they have been known to also feed on humans, as some campers will attest to. Beef calves are high on their diet. The bat hangs from its long, narrow tail to sleep. The bat is the only flying mammal! When not feeding on cattle, horses, or pigs, it is reproducing an off spring or out spreading rabies to livestock or humans. Bats are just a bit bigger than a small bird. Did I mention that turkeys and chickens are also on their menu? Bats can be found near rivers, lakes, and ponds. You can sometimes spot them flying over a backyard swimming pool diving down to get a drink. They can live to be nine to twenty years' old. These mammals are nocturnal. They have a wingspan of approximately eight inches. Their average weight is about one ounce. Guano is the name for their feces. It can be very toxic to humans, but it is used in a valuable fertilizer. Bats produce only a single pup each year. They fly at about sixty or more miles per hour.

Medicine:

Bats have powerful medicine! For some it means a certainty of transition. Bats teach us about emerging from the shadows and into the light of a new phase in our life. They represent a time to take on our greatest fears. They represent a time of a new approach. Bat medicine reminds us to see these changes and new growth as blessings and not a curse. This medicine is for renewal of at least one chapter, one important chapter on our journey. Bats tell us we must look beyond the darkness. They tell us these changes will not be small or easy that they will be life changing. Bats predict there will be stops and starts throughout the course of this changing period. Bats say it's time to look at life from a new angle. You are about to awaken a new truth in your life. You will see things completely differently. Your sense of clair-audience will strengthen and sharpen. So, listen carefully at this time to the spirit realm. What information has been hiding from you? Be prepared to grow in spurts and remember it will not happen all at once. It may be a tense time, somewhat of a pain in the neck, but understand that it is absolutely necessary in order for you to advance to the next level of your journey.
