11. ~ Buffalo/Bison ~

Inspirational! Abundance! Wisdom! Giveaway! The buffalo/bison is a huge animal weighing up to a ton and a half. The size of its head is unbelievably massive. A calf weighs forty to fifty pounds. Both genders have horns. Buffalo are curious creatures. Buffalo aren't domesticated, so 'do not' try to approach them. When you notice their head is down and their tail is up, they are angry and extremely dangerous! Cows (the females) are especially protective of their newborns. These giant animals are capable of escaping a six to six and a half foot fence. They can tolerate extreme warm and cold temperatures. Native Americans will confirm how good buffalo meat is for you. It may taste slightly grainier, but it is higher in protein than regular beef. Its content has low cholesterol and low fat as well. It is also high in iron. Bison is a healthy food choice. Buffalo are highly revered by Turtle Island Indian peoples. Buffalo is a symbol of great strength, endurance and unity. The white buffalo are particularly give sacred honour and respect. They are great and wonderful spiritual beings. Many people claim that in the presence of the buffalo, its spirit can be felt around you. The hump on the bison's back is a strong thick muscle which helps to support its large head. Buffalo can live to be twenty-five years of age. Buffalo tongue is considered a treat amound the Native people.

Buffalo medicine tells us its is time to remember to respect. It is a time to inspire not only ourselves, but also others. It is a time for an increase and abundance to appear in our lives. The buffalo tells us it is a time of enrichment on our spiritual journey. The appearance of the buffalo means to dig in your heels, and stand strong in your beliefs. It reminds us this is a time to should responsibilities in a big way and to give what we can to those in need. Buffalo medicine says 'yes' you are on the right spiritual path, and to continue moving forward and to not back down, or back away from it.
